Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of these terms

By using the Protein Diary mobile application ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. What the app is

Protein Diary is a personal food, weight, and medication diary. It helps you log protein intake in grams, hydration, body weight, medication shots, and side effects, and to generate reports of what you logged — for example, to bring to a medical appointment. Your data is stored on your device; see the Privacy Policy for details.

3. Not medical advice. Not a medical device.

Protein Diary is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a medical device. The app records the information you enter and displays it back to you, as logged. It is for your own reference and for discussion with your healthcare provider.

In particular:

• The app never recommends medication doses, dose changes, or schedules. Medication entries are recorded exactly as you type them and are only ever shown back as logged.
• Goals and targets in the app are personal tracking goals, not clinical prescriptions.
• Trends, streaks, and summaries are counts and deltas of what you logged — not predictions, diagnoses, or judgments about your health.

Always seek the advice of your physician or another qualified health provider with any questions about a medical condition, your medication, or changes to your diet. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you logged or read in the app. If you have health conditions such as kidney disease, heart disease, diabetes, or food allergies, or are pregnant or nursing, talk to your provider before changing your diet.

4. Medication names and trademarks

Protein Diary is an independent app. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any pharmaceutical manufacturer. Any medication or product names that appear in your own entries, in app store materials, or on this website are the trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to identify the medications users may choose to log.

5. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• The accuracy of the information you enter
• Securing your device and any files you export from the app
• Using the app in compliance with applicable laws

The app is not intended for children under 13.

6. Subscriptions

The core diary is free. An optional Premium subscription unlocks additional features (longer trends, full date-range reports, and similar depth features).

• Billing: subscriptions are billed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) to the payment method on your store account. We never see your payment details.
• Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period (monthly or annually) unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends.
• Cancelling: manage or cancel anytime in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Premium until the end of the paid period.
• Free trial: the annual plan includes a 7-day free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the annual subscription begins and is charged by the store. Any unused trial is forfeited when a subscription is purchased.
• Refunds: refunds are handled by the App Store or Google Play under their policies.
• Price changes: if prices change, the stores will notify you as required and renewals will only proceed under their rules.

Your own data is never paywalled: logging and full JSON backup/restore remain free regardless of subscription status.

7. Intellectual property

The app, including its design, content, and functionality, is owned by Protein Diary and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. The data you enter is yours.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the app for unlawful purposes, attempt to gain unauthorized access to related systems, reverse engineer or decompile the app except where the law permits, or use the app to distribute malicious code.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION (INCLUDING THE BUILT-IN FOOD LIBRARY) IS ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PROTEIN DIARY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, ANY ERRORS OR OMISSIONS IN ITS CONTENT, OR ANY RELIANCE ON INFORMATION DISPLAYED BY THE APP. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

11. Changes to the app and these terms

We may modify or discontinue features of the app at any time. Because your data is stored on your device with free JSON export, discontinuation of the app would not take your data with it. We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above, and continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law and severability

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions. If any provision of these terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
